# How the Answer questions mode works

Updated October 6, 2026

In the Essay format, set “Assignment type” to “Answer questions” and paste your questions. HidenGPT answers each one in order, numbered like the original, with the direct answer first, then a short explanation, and the steps shown for calculations. When a question lacks information, it's set up to say what's missing instead of guessing.

## Steps

- 01 Paste the questions into the composer as they were set, numbers included, with any data, formulas or text they refer to.
- 02 Pick “Essay” under “Use it for” (in “More” if it isn't shown).
- 03 Set “Assignment type” to “Answer questions” and choose your “Level”.
- 04 Click “Write it”. Cover the working and try each step yourself before you compare.
- 05 Click “Revise” to ask for more, such as “explain step 2 in more detail”.

## What each answer looks like

Answers come in the order given, numbered 1., 2. and so on. Each opens with the direct answer, then a short explanation; calculations show the steps. There's no outline stage, and “Word count” is ignored in this mode, so each answer is as long as it needs to be.

If a question can't be answered without something you didn't paste, such as a table or the passage it refers to, the answer is set up to say what's missing. Add it and send again.

## Level, tone and language

“Level” sets the vocabulary and depth: Middle school, High school, University or Graduate. Tone follows the level unless you change it under “More details”: plain for school, academic for university and graduate. Answers can be written in any of the 10 draft languages under “Language”. If you set “Citations” and add sources, answers cite only those.

## Studying with worked answers

Treat each answer as a worked example. Cover the working, try the first step, then compare and move on; where you got stuck is what to study. Recompute every number and check units, because AI can make mistakes in multi-step arithmetic. Compare the method with your textbook too, since teachers often want a specific one.

## What it doesn't do

- Text only: it can't read a photo, diagram or graph. Type the data or describe the figure.
- Answers can be wrong. Check each one before you rely on it.
- Not for tests or graded work where outside help isn't allowed.

## Questions

### Do I need to set a word count?

No. The word count is ignored in “Answer questions” mode.

### Which subjects does it handle?

Anything you can write out as text, from maths and chemistry to history and literature questions.
