# How to rewrite or humanize your own draft

Updated October 6, 2026

Paste up to 20,000 characters into the Rewrite format and pick one of 7 actions: Humanize, Simplify, Shorten, Expand, Change the tone, Fix spelling & grammar or Translate. HidenGPT keeps your meaning, facts, names and numbers, adds nothing new and shows a 0-100 naturalness score before and after.

## Steps

- 01 Paste your draft into the composer (up to 20,000 characters).
- 02 Pick “Rewrite” under “Use it for” (in “More” if it isn't shown).
- 03 Open “Action” and choose one. For “Change the tone”, also pick a “New tone”; for “Translate (to the output language)”, set “Language” to the target.
- 04 Pick your “Voice” if you have one, so the rewrite follows how you write.
- 05 Click “Write it” and compare the two “Naturalness” numbers under “Red pen notes”.

## What each action does

“Humanize (sound like a person)” sends your text straight to the red pen's Strong pass, which rewrites each sentence in plain words; there's no separate draft step. “Simplify” splits long sentences and cuts jargon. “Shorten” cuts to about half and keeps the main message. “Expand” grows the text to about 1.5-2 times by explaining your ideas, with no new facts. “Change the tone” switches to Friendly, Professional, Witty, Formal or Persuasive and keeps the content. “Fix spelling & grammar” corrects only spelling, punctuation and grammar, with the red pen off. “Translate” writes the text in the “Language” you picked, not word for word.

Every action keeps your point of view, facts, names, numbers and format (paragraphs, lists, Markdown). All except Translate keep the text's language.

## Reading the score before and after

For Humanize, the struck-through number is your original's score and the second is the result's. For the other actions, the first number is the edited text before the red pen. Those actions use Light by default, and you can pick Off, Light or Strong. “Red pen notes” lists what was crossed out, and “Still there:” lists what's left.

## What it doesn't do

- It adds no facts, sources or examples, so it can't fill gaps in your argument.
- 20,000 characters per run; split longer texts.
- If the red pen pass is cut short, you get the text from before that pass, with a warning.
- Rewriting someone else's work to pass it off as yours breaks the Acceptable Use Policy.
- It makes no promise about AI detectors.

## Questions

### Can I choose the red pen level for Humanize?

No. Humanize always runs the Strong pass, because a light pass only deletes flagged words and leaves the machine-made structure in place.

### Will it change my facts or numbers?

It's built not to: meaning, facts, names and numbers stay, and nothing is added. Compare the result with your original anyway.
