Want the post written to fit?

HidenGPT's LinkedIn, Instagram, X and product-listing formats write within these limits and check each draft against them.

How it counts

Characters are Unicode characters: an accented letter is one, a simple emoji is one, and an emoji built from several parts, such as some flags and family emoji, counts as several. Spaces and line breaks count. X works differently, so its row uses X's own weighting: every link counts as 23 characters whatever its length, and emoji and most Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2. Words are runs of letters or digits, with apostrophes and hyphens inside a word kept.

Platforms don't all treat emoji and other scripts the same way, so near a limit, leave a few characters spare.

Where the limits come from

They are the numbers HidenGPT's formats check their own drafts against, so a LinkedIn post or Etsy title written there agrees with this counter. LinkedIn states the 3,000-character post limit in its help pages; its help pages don't give the About (2,600) and headline (220) limits, so treat those as what the profile editor allows today. Google Ads responsive search ads take headlines of 30 characters and descriptions of 90.

Instagram captions stop at 2,200 characters, and the feed shows roughly the first 125 before “more”. Instagram doesn't document that cut and it depends on the screen, so the counter calls it approximate.

Limits

Platforms change their limits, and some accounts get different ones: paid X accounts can post longer text, for example. If a platform rejects text this counter says fits, the platform's own counter wins. The tool counts; it doesn't check formatting, hashtags or banned words.

Questions

Do spaces count as characters?

Yes, on every platform listed here. The counter shows both: characters with spaces, which the limits use, and without spaces, which some school and translation briefs ask for.

How many characters is a LinkedIn post?

Up to 3,000. The About section takes 2,600 and the headline 220.

Why is my X count different from the character count?

X counts every link as 23 characters and emoji as 2, so the X row can be higher or lower than the plain count.

How long can an Instagram caption be?

Up to 2,200 characters. Only about the first 125 show in the feed before “more”, so start with the line that matters.

Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent or saved.
